Southampton and Portsmouth & Southsea

Ystdy we spent the afternoon and night in Southampton and today we have spent the afternoon and will spend the night in Portsmouth & Southsea.

We really like Southampton, there is not a lot to see and do but it was a charming town and had a bunch of parks in the middle of it which made it feel like you were in one big park not a town/city (not sure which one it actually is lol). We had lunch at The Vestry which is a restaurant which used to be a church, there is something nice about enjoying a meal while admiring stained glass windows :) it gets a thumbs down from me overall tho as I ordered starters, dessert and a drink and it was £20 and the portions were tiny, think it was too fancy for the likes of us. We also checked out the Christmas Market which was cool, only downer was the fresh donuts :( they always smell soooo good but are full of gluteny badness :(

Today we got to Portsmouth & Southsea, am saying them both cos we are staying more in Southsea which is a part of Portsmouth (plus the train stop we got off on was them both). We wandered round the seaside bits this afternoon and went to the D-Day Museum, so so cool!! If you are ever in Portsmouth and looking for something to do we totally recommend it. There was a quilt display there called The Overlord Embroidery and was commissioned in 1968 by Lord Dulverton as a tribute and permanent memorial of WWII, it is 272 feet long and is made up of 34 panels. It took 5 years, 20 embroiderers and 5 apprentices to complete it. It was really cool, each panel tells part of the story of D-Day from planning to post D-Day, couldn't take pics of it but really enjoyed it along with the rest of the museum. We then wandered into Portsmouth but nothing that interesting so wandered back to the seaside to see it at night and we are now back at the accomodation where we will most likely have an early night as we are tired. We had dinner at Huis which is a Belgium Bar and Resturant, so good. We had mussels and then couldn't resist getting a dessert cos they had gluten free waffles :) yum yum :) they get a thumbs up from us, not only was the food amazing but the staff were super nice and friendly, good for a chat and also for recommending food and drinks :)

Oh and random info cos I know you all are curious, yes when a good song comes on my iPod I can still dance when walking down the road even with both packs on, and yes I can do squats with them on while bored and waiting for a train lol :p
