No wonder people get cranky this time of year...

At work, thanks entirely to this stupid time of year called Christmas in which I am apparently a humbug, I have had to put up with Christmas music, painful Christmas music, classical and if that is not enough even progressed to Crazy Frog. And they wonder why people get cranky and mean at Christmas time. Atleast work mates know that I am not a very Christmasy person so did not get wished Merry Christmas to much, just to have a good few days off.

On another not so nice note, had my hair dyed - meant to be dark brown and blonde now - and at work the other day (bout week after it was done) was told that I have the most beautiful red hair by a customer. There is meant to be NO red in it!!! Was polite though and said thanks and smiled, my parents brought me up well enough.

Have a great 25th December doing whatever it is you are doing :)

Merry New Year

Please Bury Me in the Library

By J. Patrick Lewis

Please bury me in the library
In the clean, well-lighted stacks
Of Novels, History, Poetry,
Right next to the Paperbacks,

Where the Kids' Books dance
With True Romance
And the Dictionary dozes.
Please bury me in the library
With a dozen long-stemmed proses.

Way back by a rack of Magazines,
I won't be sad too often,
If they bury me in the library
With Bookworms in my coffin.

It's coming to me... Nup I was wrong...

As I was walking to work today I thought of something that I wanted to tell you, but do you think that I can remember? Nup. My excuse is that it is a long walk and one of the songs I was listening to made me think of it and then of course since its a long walk other songs played and so I forgot what song it was that even made me think of it.

So now onto other things: Do you know how kool it is to have a playlist of only songs that you abosultely love? And how annoying it can be? I have a playlist on my iPod that has the songs that I always want to repeat and play again when I hear them. This is good in the fact that the next song is always one I like but the problem is that I often think 'I'm gonna repeat that one' but then the next one is really good to and I dont, and then I just wanna repeat the whole playlist again.
If you are interested there are 28 songs on the playlist.

On my way to work I often stop at the best little cafe in Tauranga (and it just happens to be on my way) to get a coffee. Now I am still unsure whether it is a good thing that I no longer need to say what I want, I jsut walk in and they make it and stamp my card. Yup I'm a regular. The neat thing is that if I ever get there before they are officially open, they open for me so I don't have to wait outside, makes one feel good that does.

Guide camp is next weekend, for all you excitable people. It should be good. It's a district camp, meaning there will be Bellevue (thats me), Matua and Greerten Guide packs, Brownies to as it a big camp. Fun Fun Fun :)

The things you miss...

Randomly enough the other day I was thinking about Slater Bugs, more specifically how I haven't seen one for ages, years in fact. This struck me as rather sad, which I found weird as I cant say I was a huge fan of them when they were around, but still I was sad and I cant deny it (not that I would want to really, and well if I hadn't had just told you you wouldn't know that I was even feeling that but now you do and since I'm the only person with authority to post on this blog I typed it and yeah I forgot where this was going already). Back to Slater Bugs, you got any idea why they not around any more? And do you think it would be possible to swap some cockroaches for some Slaters as I have had enough of them for the next heaps of years.
Cheers :)

So where is home....

They say you should be careful what you put on your blog in case you offend someone, so just thought I would let you know in advance I sorry if I offend you but if I do please let me know so that I don't do it again, cheers.

Everyone is meant to have a home, but I dunno where mine is. Sure going back to Inglewood is semi home, but only cos my parents are there (and not to make them feel any less loved but so are the rest of my teddy's). Wellington was never home, and neither was Auckland though it still tempts me that it could be, even though I know this ain't true. And well Tauranga isn't my home either, and I don't think it ever really will be.
Yes I admit I like it here, as does Glenny and the 10 or so others that are here, but that does not make it home. I love my job and things are good but that doesn't count for home. Do you know what I mean, some places just feel like home while others don't. Inglewood i call my home but it hasn't felt like that since around 4th form, and since then nowhere has.

I wonder if I will ever find a home (even a short term one) or whether I will always jsut want to be moving on to somewhere else. I guess only time will tell

Generation Dead - Daniel Waters

Oakvale High School is just like any other school in America, it even has a reputation for being the best school for living impaired teenagers. No one knows what has triggered the sudden phenomenon of the living impaired (people that are dead but have come back to life, zombies as they are often called), nor why it only seems to affect teenagers. Society has yet to accept the living impaired, especially in Oakvale where there are more and more appearing daily. Matters are not helped when Tommy Williams, one of the living impaired, tries out for the school football team, and things only get worse when Tommy and Phoebe Kendell (a normal teenager) are seen hanging out together.

I felt that Generation Dead did a job at showing racism/prejudice and how it affects the different people in a community and by setting it in a high school it is easy for the reader to relate.

----> This was a teen book and personally not a very good read. Dunno if this is cos I read it straight after Hamlet or not, but it spent to much of the book on why teens were coming back alive without giving an answer which I felt was just plain dumb. But other than that it was good for showing how different people deal with racism/prejudice.

Exciting News :)

Ok so to some of you this wont sound very exciting, infact for most of you it happens most weeks of the year, but I am excited anyway.

I get Tuesday AND Wednesday off this week. That means two days in a row off :) :) :)

The reason that this is exciting is because I havent had two days off in a row since June.

So guess what I am going to do....

Yup that right, I am going to chill out. Was gonna go see Brudda (it cheap movie day on Tuesday and we like the movies) but since I gonna go see him this weekend (on my way to Pukekohe) I think I will just chill out and recover from working six day weeks.

So what you been up to?

Well so it is friday, not that that means much to me as work weekends, and it is also Labour Weekend, which also doesn't mean much to me as I work weekends (did I say that already...) and this one is no different. Although I am working there are a couple bonuses to this weekend, them being that get Monday off (paid, wahoo!) but most important Marianne and Mark are coming over, so not kool am working but then do enjoy work so its all good.

Not much planned for next few weeks other than work, and work a bit more. Am so very talented that I am working most days these next few weeks, and past few. Keep forgetting when looking in diary to not only check that am not working the day in question (for when asked by Dave or Jo) but also how many days that week and surrounding weeks I am working, so am working six days a week for a few weeks, cept next week cos am getting Monday off but still getting paid for six days, again Wahoo!

Hamlet

Ok so at work we have as a performance objective to write book reviews so thought I would post them here for you to read also. Some of them (teen book reviews) may appear on the library website as Amanda likes the new ones reviewed and I like reading them so it's a good system. Anyhow here's my first review:

Hamlet: A Novel, by John Marsden

Hamlet is trying to deal with his mother's remarriage shortly after his father's death when he his visited by the ghost of his father, who instructs Hamlet to avenge his murder. This story is well known as Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet, which John Marsden has done a great job in converting to a novel.
Being a Shakepearian tragedy it is fulled with murder, insanity, lust and treason which all make for spectacular reading.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and even passed up a shopping trip as I couldn't put it down.

Congrats to Lowndes and Wincup!!!

I watched Bathurst at my bruddas yesterday and Lowndes and Wincup won again for the 3rd year running, sadly Mr VanG crashed out, well his teamate did but same result - he not finish.

Anyway real reason for this post is Snooze buttons. Don't understand them. Brudda tried to explain them to me but still not get. If I wanna get up at 7 I set alarm (well not really cos I'd be awake, but lets pretend I would) for bout 2 minutes to and then when it goes off I would roll over pretend I could go back to sleep but knowing I cant and if I did I would feel groggy and terrible for the day I then get up. If I snoozed it I'd have to set it way earlier so I could snooze and snooze and still get up on time which means I would miss out on that extra straight through sleep. Unless ofcourse I was like my flatmate who snoozes his alarm so much that he always runs late for work (except the week that he was jetlaged and woke up at 5am so got to work early, bet they were shocked)

Is it a bad thing if your teddy bears think you're crazy???

Well if you knew that I was working two jobs, that is no more, and if you didn't well you don't need to now. Last night was my last night at New World, and while I may miss the people I think that I wont really miss the job itself. There was always a reason that I said I would never work in a supermarket or fast food place, and that is back on methinks.

Thought would share some of the fascinating things that I have learnt in my time at New World.
  • Listerine is made in Australia (well all except one flavour which is made in Canada)
  • Handwash for the bathroom is located with soaps and toothpastes but handwash for kitchen hands is located with dishwashing liquid
  • Savlon and dettol cream is by feet cream and sunscreen, savlon and dettol liquid is with janola nad other cleaning products
  • Baby food smells like vomit if it is spilt on the floor (glass breaks when it is dropped, cans bounce)
  • After 8pm all bakery food with cream is half price (this doesn't include custard squares sadly)
  • And most disturbidly, along with the nit creams and shampoos there is a nit cream for pubic lice.

Now if you don't think that any of that is useful, well I never said it would be.

Oh and in reference to this post's title, not all my teds think I'm crazy. Glenny knows better (well knows better than to tell me he does) and Monty talks to much to think I might be. They are all good by the way. Brian and Betty watch my door with Russ's help and Seb is trying to keep the rest in line while letting Glenny think he is actually in charge. Surprisingly enough Mary is having better luck with EJ than Seb is. Honey loves hanging out with her big brothers and I think they all like the view much better than the one that they had at home.

Sam and Mike it is

Have finally figured out what to call my twin boys. Want to call one after good and the other after evil, mainly as a social kinda experiment, as most girls that are called Angel seem to be anything but. First thought of Lucifer and Gabriel, but don't like the name Gab or Gabriel and Lucifer would know that he was the 'evil' one.

After some research have settled on Sam and Mike. Archangel Michael rankes higher than Gabriel, he is God's best man and also the Viceroy of Heaven (which is what Lucifer was before his little disagreement with God). And speaking of which, before that said disagreement Lucifer was Archangel Samael.

So Sam and Mike it is :)

First ever five year plan

People always say you should have a five year plan, and for once I do got one (well mostly). Dunno if it will happen at all but I guess that that is not the point, the point is so you got something to aim for, or atleast that is what I think the point should be. So you wanna know what it is, ok then.

2009: go to Singapore with Ma, Raewyn and Carolyn
2010: Canada
2011: Canada
2012: Masters at Vic

And that is my plan, hopefully it all works out and yes it may look like only 4 years but I worked out that it was 5 so deal with it :)

Some thoughts should be banned...

And no I do not mean x-rated ones you dirty minded people out there, I mean those ones that are just not very helpful at all, ones that we do not need but we have anyway, ones like what am I doing in Tauranga (or wherever), like what am I meant to do with this thing called a life, like am I being who I'm meant to be, thoughts like why am I always alone...
