I is still around

Just thought I would let ya all know that I am still alive and kicking, not posted for a while cos not much has been happening that is exciting, just been doing what I do best which is having fun and chilling with Glenny :)

This past week has been a pretty busy week for me though, well relatively speaking.  I submitted my first lot of assignments and should have marks back in two weeks time so then I will know how I am going, its always a bit tricky before the first lot of marks I find as its hard to know if you are taking it all in how it is meant to be taken in etc.

I have also got myself a part time job, woot woot.  I am going back to the Parks Team at NPDC but not in the same role as I was in when I to Scotland.  Should be a good job to fit in around study and I know its a great team to be re-joining.

I also finished Hart of Dixie this week, its a tv show for those who do not know.  I watched season 3 and 4 this week, so so good.  It is the show that I learnt you can actually watch 14 hours straight of tv and your brain does not explode, in fact nothing actually happens cept you are pretty zombie-like the next day (I started after lunch lol).  The show solidified my belief that I need to go find me a cowboy, not necessarily a bull riding cowboy but a southern gentleman cowboy :) If I am rich when I finish study I am off on my search :)

Glenny and Fishy have also found how cool Nerf guns are and we have been having loads of fun and have had to hunt round bro's flat for the bullets a few times.  Glenny is a pretty decent teammate, believe it or not :)  and I found a way to make both him and Fishy look kinda smart, hehe bro put my glasses on them :) yes we are having fun :)

Today I also tried to lighten my hair using household ingredients, I tried that salt and water one cos it was handy and easy plus isn't meant to take ages like lemon juice does.  Good news is my hair didn't fall out, bad news is no lightening happened :( boo hair, not cool.

Other than some colouring in and a lil bit of sewing aint really been up to much else, well other than bugging bro but that is part of the lil sis job description so something I just gotta find time for :p hehe

And thats about it...
Till next time atlas :)

Ceilidh

Went to my first ceilidh on Saturday night (it is pronounced kay-lee for those of you who are like me and don't know how to pronounce that word when its written like that).  It was mega mega fun and we (Salome and I) will def be going back.  Salome has been to a few already but I keep being busy when they are on, silly silly mistake on my behalf.

For those who don't know a ceilidh is Scottish music and Scottish dancing.  It was basically 3.5 hours of awesome music and lots of bouncing, if you don't know the steps you just bounce along in time to the music and you are pretty much doing what you have to, well that and spin, there is lots of spinning involved as well so all around my kind of fun :)

It is also real good for the ego as if you want to do one of the dances and you don't have a partner if you walk onto the dance floor a male will come join you and if not you put your hand up and say you need a partner and then one comes :) or atlst that is what happens at this one which is cool.  There are others ceilidhs around the place but all my friends who have been to them say this is the best one, its only once a month sadly but worth it.

Salome and I went with her friend Lucie who was over for the weekend from Paris so some of the dances I danced with Salome and we took turns as to who was the male, others we danced with actual males.  Some of the dances a guy would come and ask one of us for the dance while we were standing on the sidelines and other times we would go onto the floor and wait for one or find one there.  Me being the demanding kinda forward person that I am managed to tell a guy to 'come' for one of the dances.  It was towards the end of the evening and I had danced with him a couple times and needed a partner, he was on the sidelines and I was on the floor so literally just pointed at him and said 'come', which he did and then we laughed about the fact I hadn't actually said please or would you like to dance or anything even semi polite lol.  Good thing he was a good sorta guy :)

Below are some pics that I found on the clubs Facebook page, Salome and I were going to take photos of each other dancing but neither of us sat out any dances (well except one when we both needed to pee) so that did not happen.  The first pic is of us doing a ceilidh style waltz which we were pretty good at, and the rest are just random ones which I am not in but show how much fun everyone was having :)

How well do you know me...

Did you think I'd go to a dr when the sore on my thumb didn't get better after a couple days? If so you don't know me very well at all, sorry.

Did you think I'd go to a dr when it wasn't getting better and it had been a week and I had tried a couple things at home? Sorry you still don't know me all that well but your closer than if you guessed a couple days.

Did you think I'd get medical help if wasn't better after two weeks and I'd tried a bunch of DIY stuff myself and it was looking quite nasty and actually hurting enough that I was bothered by it? Hey look you know me quite well :)

After two visits to the hospital turns out it was/is just a bad infection (visit one resulted in me getting to go back after 24hrs when the cream stuff they put on had opened it up as it had started healing trapping a bunch of pus and ick in it). Now I have a pretty big bandage on it that I need to leave on for 4 days then can take it off and it should be well on its way to being healed :)

Stuff etc

Not that you would know but when I started work I thought I'd do a weekly update on a Sunday evening so you'd all know what I'd been up to, it's now Monday evening and I've been at work for over 3 weeks so you can see how awesomely that plan is going hehe. But as they say better late than never so here goes...

Last week was week 3 of training, we have one more week to go then we are off to join our team :) I'm looking forward to it.

For the month of August the Fringe Festival is running in Edinburgh, this is a festival with heaps of performances including music, comedy, theatre, spoken word and more. Some are free, some cost. Some are scheduled and others you can catch just by walking around the city. I went to a free improv show on Wednesday that was real good, was called Spontaneous Sherlock and the comedians acted out a story from a title suggested by the audience. They did a fantastic job and were real funny.  On Sunday I was gonna go to a spoken word show to see if it is something I might like but got sidetracked when heard a musician playing on the Royal Mile and ended up listening to him instead and even bought his cd at the end of his show. Funny thing is he is from NZ, crazy really how I heard him on the other side of the world (oh and true to NZ/Aus form they say he's from Aussie cos he's been living in Melbourne (yes I googled him cos he has a song called Kia Kaha so I was curious lol)).

On Friday night Jo and I went to Camera Obscura (World of Illusion), so much fun. Totally recommended anyone who is anywhere near Edinburgh. There are 6 levels of fun including a mirror maze, cool figure changing mirrors, puzzles, optical illusions, a tunnel that makes you feel like your spinning upsidedown and much more :)

And on Saturday I went for a wander and got the coolest t-shirt in the world from a charity shop for only £3, if it's even been worn it hasn't been much :)

Coolest t-shirt possibly ever

Did you notice anything new?

For those of you that actually go onto my blog to read my updates I sure hope you have noticed some changes.... new title, new colour scheme, new margins (ok so that one you prob wouldn't have noticed and I spose I forgive you for it hehe).

Decided it was time for a change and as the Cape of Awesomeness is coming over to the UK with me I decided I would change my blog to be like it and this way when you don't get an update for a while it is the Cape of Awesomeness's fault not mine as its now the Cape of Awesomeness's blog to and it is likely that it's cos we are off doing some awesome :)

We have started our adventures with the always boring but always required sorting, packing and cleaning that is done before any great adventure.  There is still a fair amount to do but I still have 3.5 weeks and would hate to rush things and wear ourselves out :)

Snow, snow, glorious snow

So in the weekend we (Bridie and I) went up to Mt Ruapehu to get us some snowboarding time.  The weather didnt really play ball so we were stuck at Whakapapa for a day and a bit and got no Turoa time (for those of you that are non-snow people Turoa is better for boarding and Whakapapa is better for skiing).  We did get some good runs in and some cool photos taken :)

Seems I'm still alive...

I know, who woulda guessed haha :)

Things have been good, got me a new car - Spartacus (Sparty for short) and he is pretty awesome.  He is getting on very well with Bobblehead Darth Vadar which is most important, obviously :)

Still loving living in NP with Bridie, and she aint kicked me out yet which is great, think its cos she likes my parents so much and that might complicate things haha :) will take what I can get hehe.

Not much else has been happening, work is work.  Guided Walks are going well, almost over and none have had to be cancelled which is good.  Also means getting good turn out which makes me happy :)

Went to the Urenui Rodeo yesterday, loved it :) still want me a cowboy, obviously lol.  Maybe not a kiwi one but still a cowboy or atlst someone who suits the cowboy look so I can pretend.  Yup I'm still living in my dream world, not reality and theres nothing you can do about it :p

Traveling, traveling and more traveling

So we bout half way through our road trip of the South Island and its going pretty good. Have seen some awesome sites but don't agree that this Island is totally different to the North.
Temp is the same, trees are pretty much the same, there's still grass and hills etc so yeah pretty much the same haha. Still nice though.

Have figured that I would never wanna live in Christchurch but would love to live in Dunedin and Queenstown :)

Def looking forward to the next week :)
