People are weird

I know the title of this post is no surprise, people are weird, we all know that lol.  But in this particular instance I am talking about them being weird in the way they are commenting about me losing weight.  And I just thought I would put it on here as it might help someone else down the track, some day, eventually.

I have been running pretty consistently since September-ish (thanks acupuncture), and a happy byproduct of that is that I am losing the weight I put on when I couldn't do any exercise at all (boo chronic fatigue crash).  I am running for me, cos I like it and it makes me happy (not always in the moment I am running, sometimes I just think I am crazy to chose to do that lol.  But I am always happy at the end and at some point during the run), but returning to pretty much my normal/standard weight has been a wonderful perk.

People are weird comes into this equation because the following seems to be happening with those who have commented on it:
Those over around 55 have been very wow good on you losing weight.
Those under around 35 have been concerned that I am losing weight.
Only those who are around my age(ish) have asked if it is intentional and if I am happy/ok.

Now I am sure everyone is happy for me and/or thinking of my wellbeing, but from the receiving end I do much prefer the people who are asking if I am happy/ok before being excited/concerned.  Not just assuming it's a good or bad thing.  It's such a small, and it's not like I am mad at those who are commenting straight off, but if you know someone who is losing or gaining weight maybe ask them first before reacting 😊

And that is just my little note for the day, I hope you are all having a good week 💜

Recycled awesomeness

Made myself a nice warm awesome as jacket for winter 🥰😻💜 fully recycled too which is cool.

The grey fabric is my old girl guide blanket, the blue is an old blanket from Jenny. Both woollen blankets.

The lining is an old duvet cover that I’ve had for years but don’t use anymore.

The cotton was from Gma’s stash.

And the buttons were a nice surprise from my boss Michelle. She loaned me her button collection when I mentioned I didn’t have any suitable ones and really didn’t want to buy ones cos was able to not pay for anything else for the jacket. She’s a cool boss 🤗

Now just need the weather to cool so I can wear it lol 😻🤩😂

Some creative goodness for your Sunday

I have been doing a bit of creative stuff lately, its the WI arts festival on Friday which is the main driver for most the stuff I've been making but I am also doing it cos I want to and its fun.  Thought I would share some of the things I am most proud of with you all :)

1: This is a dress that I finished off today, am very pleased with how it fits and looks on.  Cannot wait to wear it, so bring back some warm weather please lol.

2: This cloak/coat I made from two old woollen blankets.  It is the first time I have ever made bound buttonholes and while a couple of them leave room for improvement I am still very happy with my effort. And also can't wait to wear it though its very warm so need some cold weather for this one, that can wait tho I think, just for a little while...

3: It took me almost exactly 6 months to knit myself this jumper, then about another 6 weeks to get round to sewing it together lol.  I am not a fan of sewing up knitting or crocheting.

4: This is a vest I made for Henry, he's 1.  So I know he'll like it cos he's too young to know any different (atlst in my mind he is hehe).

5: And this jumper was made using leftover fabric from two jumpers I made myself last winter and is for the only small human I kinda like.  She has seen a photo and loves it which is cool.  She also can't believe her Aunty Jilly made it which is cooler lol.

32nd trip around the sun

I have had a pretty sweet 32nd trip around the sun. The trip started off in Scotland, then after a couple months moved through Ireland, Wales, England and on to New Zealand for the last 8ish months of the trip. It's seen me hanging with my new friends in Edinburgh then making a bunch of new ones along my travels and finally home to my old friends and amazing family, all of who I've been lucky enough to catch up with since arriving home. It's seen me go back to study and get back into crochet and sewing, even betting mum at sewing a child's garment in the arts show :) that was very cool. This past year I have also discovered there is kid out there I am happy to tolerate, so not sure how that happened but it did.

And I just wanna say a big thanks everyone who helped make the trip such an amazing one and bring on the next one :)

Update from lil old me

So its been awhile, yes I know, but in my defence I have been very busy procrastinating writing my final assignments for the semester and then actually writing them when I realised no one else was going to help me, I know I am so unloved right.  And in with all this non-existent stress (as if I would let something as little as three assignments stress me out) Glenny and I have been going through what I spose could be called a rough patch, this was much more stressful than those pesky assignments.  But don't worry, after a couple of discussions, ok so after I yelled at him a couple times and called him useless, we have come to an agreement, kinda.  We/I were discussing how useless he is, he wants me to move into my own place, mostly so that he can just create havoc and mess and won't have to worry about anyone telling him off, yes he seems to think I will let him get away with anything, haha dream on buddy, but anyway our discussions were around how although he wants this he in no way is helping, and ok maybe having paws limits what jobs you can get but he doesn't even do the small things that I ask him to do like making my bed and pulling the curtains, but whatever, we have come to a compromise and he has taken responsibility of guarding the things that are important to me so that I know when I do get my own place it will be well guarded when I am not there, and probably also when I am there.  And since my assignments are all done and submitted my self-imposed sewing ban has been lifted, yay.  So yeah things are all good in the world of Jilly :)

Guarding my bed, or is it my bedroom, I am not sure and they never explained

Guarding the fire, not sure how long it will take them to realise that if they don't let me past it is going to get cold....

Glenn found the cupcakes, and apparently cos he's been so good at guarding and bears eat fish and they match his nose they are all his... I do not agree with this logic, for some reason

Since I haven't been able to sew I have been creating fairies :) so cute but they do seem to be growing in number

Love that you all care :)

Thanks for the suggestions for what I should do re my thumb all you who emailed me after my last post.  Just want to let you all know it looks like its on the mend.  One of the girls who is in training with me at the bank was a pharmacist before this and she recommended I get Magnesium Sulphate Paste to put on it.  I am not sure if they have this back home but I had never heard of it, its pretty cool stuff though.  You put it on you wound at night and then put a plaster on it and it draws out all the bad stuff from your wound.  When I woke up this morning after using it last night the plaster was all icky and gunky but the wound was looking much better.  It is now just pink with a little bit of weepy (but clear not gunky so yay) and only bled a lil in its plaster today at work so I am happy.  It also hurts a lot less.  And best of all the paste was only a couple pounds, def keeping a lil bottle of this in stock always :)

No mum when you need her :(

For the first time, I think ever, I needed my mum when she wasn't around and was not a phone call away :(

So over the weekend I somehow got a small cut on my thumb (lower knuckle), cos I kept bumping it I put a plaster on it for work today and throughout the day it got sorer and sorer but I figured it was just me being a drama queen.  However when I got home from work and took the plaster off it was all pusey and icky and a lil swollen and bigger than this morning (turns out get a lil faint at unexpected pus on me, whoops).  So not sure what to do and with not much stuff handy I soaked hand in salt water (not sure that worked) then put Dettol cream on it, and have kept reapplying.  Its still all weepy but it better get better and not worse overnight cos my visa don't cover medical stuff over here and I doubt my travel insurance would cover this....

So fingers crossed come tomorrow morning when I wake up it will be all better :)

And if anyone knows what I did to get the cut in the first place please let me know lol, I would love to know :)

Roar, I'm a dinosaur

hehe well not really, but wouldn't it be cool if I (or we) was :) we could wander round munching on food and playing with our tails and chasing each other :) only fun stuff, none of the dying or anything that they did.

Not been up to much lately, got me a kitten about 6 weeks ago, he is mega cute and also loves to chase his tail.  He would make a cool dinosaur to, he would know how to play good :)

Other than Dawson (the kitten) nothing much has been happening.  I am still working at Council in Parks Team, still read and watch dvds more than I probably should and exercise less.

Am hanging out for winter, ready for the cold and the snow :) still not a summer person it would seem. Been pretty wet the past few days which has been nice hehe :)

Not got much else to say, so yeah, enjoy the dinosaur dream which I'm sure you are all stuck in right now hehe :)

Clay shot Piney!

That was a plot turn I didn't see coming, also not a very good one. Seriously what did Piney ever do to you Clay? Nothing, well other than question your leadership and never trust/like you, but thats hardly reason enough to kill him. Not cool writers! Please feel free to shoot the annoying new sheriff though :-)

PS talking bout Sons of Anarchy if you wondering

Well done Mr. Irish

So David did the round the round the mountain relay solo this weekend. It's only 161kms, as he so put it. He managed to run over 100kms which I think was pretty impressive, he then walked the rest of the way. Took him
just over 24hrs, with no sleep and not much stopping which is also damn impressive I think.

David is now up there with Dofus, they are both mega awesome in my eyes. Though Dofus's awesomeness is ever lasting yet I am pretty sure that David's will fade. Good on him though :)

I mean really...

So went to buy the movie He's Just Not That Into You yesterday, which if you are unaware is a M16 movie, and I was ID'd. I mean come on, it wasn't even R just M. And it was 16! I look older than 16 that's for sure. Though I must admit that it gave me and Carolyn a good laugh afterwards :)

Still not dead....

You know how I said I was gonna keep this updated more often and then didnt, well yeah that would be something I would do and congrats for noticing. If you didnt what are you even doing reading this then????

Do have a semi good reason for not posting stuff often and that is that my new cellphone wont let me and we dont have internet at my flat. So to me that is a good reason and I'm sticking with it.
If you would like more often updates feel free to buy me a new cellphone or pay for internet in our flat, I'm sure carolyn wont mind either :)

Uni Graduate - yup, Smartness - ummm....

You'd think I've lived long enough (esp in Taranaki) to know better.

All through summer I took a coat to work, just in case. Today (its autumn all you northern hemisphere people) it was warm and sunny so I didn't. Didn't take a coat or a warm jersey, cos it was warm and sunny.

Well it got cooler and cooler as the day went on, luckily I work inside (maybe I do have some smarts in there), and wetter.

Walking home I got drenched cos it was raining and I didnt have a coat (remember it was warm and sunny this morning) and cold cos I didnt have a warm jersey (member the warm and sunny bit). Also didnt have shoes (had sandels which I left at work as there is nothing worse than wet slimy sandels - see there's that smartness emerging again :)

Gotta love her...

Her being Adrian Phoenix. Not only does she write awesome as books, but she also wrote me a thank you note (handwritten) which arrived in the mail today. Is nice to know that she took the time to not only my email (basically saying I love her books), but she took the time to write a reply.

Finished the last book in the trilogy (The Makers Song, book three was Beneath the Skin (I think)) the other day and without spoiling the ending in case some of you are reading it, it ends great. My characters dont die (well not yet at least), and the couple that you know are going to end up together do not do so in a cheesy way.

Fantastic read, didnt want to leave that world and will return again soon I have a feeling.

Zan's in NZ :)

My friend Zan from UK (meet at Sangam) is on a World Tour which is currently on it's NZ stop. So very kool. She is on a bus tour thingy at the moment but is coming to spend a few days in the Naki next week. Am very excited that will be seeing her again. Even managed to get couple days off work so can chill with Zan and show her around :)

Other great news is that my student loan is under $30,000. Awesome aye?

Done for another year

Christmas is once again over. Seems that it is over quicker than some years (but then I think it feels like September/October-ish so that might have something to do with it) which means that soon it is going to be 2010.
Some important things are happening in 2010, the first of these being that Mum will be able to retire in 10 years time (assuming the law doesnt change in relation to retirement age, which we are assuming).
Schumi will race again which means there is reason to watch f1 again, mostly to make sure he takes out Hamilton if Hamilton doesnt manage to take himself out.
I will hopefully be able to pay of my student loan (fingers crossed on this one and if not 2010 then early 2011 I hope).
I will be turnign 25 (old I know) and to either celebrate or mourn this event there will be a party. You have been warned!

Until then though, look after yourself and enjoy this merry (?) time of year.

Swine Flu Update

Just incase you are following the Indian news and are wondering what is happening, or just wanna know how much this is affecting a Guiding World Centre here is an update.

Rickshaw drivers do not want to take us foriegners in their rickshaws as we may have swine flu which makes taking participants out hard. We are running a community action event which was going to be centred around the theme education, but the schools are closed due to swine flu. We were going to take the participants to the movies tomorrow night as the event is not what they signed up for no more so that was going to be a going out treat, but now all the cinemas and malls are closed due to swine flu.

There is talk that there is going to be a curfew impossed for everyone, one is already in place for resturants and bars - they have to be closed at 9pm as that is when they get real busy over here and crowded. There is also talk of if things get worse there will be an enforced lockdown...

Lets hope things get better, even if that just means that we get some much needed rain...

Bollywood Dance

Just had bollywood dance session. Have been looking forward to it for over a month and it did not disappoint, though the amount of steps that are just line dancing with hand actions is surprising. Not surprising is how bad I was. When whoever it is that builds our DNA assembled mine they left out co-ordination, grace, balance and hand-leg-brain communication, which in my opinion makes me very unique but also a very bad dancer. Had plenty of fun still which is all that matters
