Race for Life - Pretty Muddy 5k

This afternoon Zeena and I completed the Race for Life Pretty Muddy 5k run. So much fun.

We started with a random as warm up to pumping music and water pistols shooting us then we started the run. We soon found out that not only was there mud but there were also random fun challenges along the way. We had to piggyback each other, climb cargo nets, found our way through ropes and bounce along on space hoppers, plus obviously crawl and wade through mud while having mud thrown on us. The finish was an awesome slide into a pit of mud :) awesome awesome fun

Waiting to start...

The before shot, we are nice and clean hehe

Happy muddy us

Pitlochry roadtrip

In the weekend just gone Salome and I rented a car headed up to Pitlochry area. On Saturday we drove up early so we could fit in the Pitlochry Highland Games and then a walk afterwards. The Highland Games were real good. We got there early and watched some of the games, then we went for a wander round Pitlochry and found the dam which was pretty cool. Then we headed back to the games to watch the local heavy weight competition (Salome was keen to see the Caber Toss), then we headed off to the river to have lunch then back to the games for a bit to see some highland dancing.

After this we went back to the car to drive to Loch Rannoch where we were going for a walk, turned out that although it was only like 15 miles to where we were going cos the road was so narrow and windy it took a lot longer than planned to get there so we had to shorten our walking time. The views were amazing when we finally found the start of the walk, lol it wasn't the walk we planned to do cos we never found that one but still it was good. We did the middle length walk first (meant to take an hour but didn't), then we did some of the longer one. So glad we did as there was a view that was totally worth it, and Salome found a couple of blackberries hehe.

We then headed to Birnam where we were staying the night. After checking into the hotel and showering we went for a wander into Dunkeld for dinner, it was about a 20min walk so quite nice, the food was also amazing. We both had steak, so much food and so yum.

The next morning we wandered back to Dunkeld for a walk along the River Tay, it was a lovely walk though in places a bit close to the road so not very peaceful. Missie and I made friends with a black lab at one point and it even waited for us while we stopped and took a photo and made sure we started walking before it continued along (it's owner was ahead of us lol).  We passed by the Dunkeld Cathedral which was by the river and in such a pretty location. No photos cos none could do it justice.

We then headed for home with a stop at Aberdour Castle along the way. Not the best castle, was nice to be able to wander through it though and see how it was all set out and the grounds were nice. Just not very big, I was expecting bigger cos it was a castle lol.

Someone is appreciating not traveling by train

Just chilling

Perth, the Scotland one

Went up to Perth for the day today, it's about 1hr 15 by train from Edinburgh for those that are wondering.

It was amazing weather so I was super happy about that. The town was smaller than I thought it was going to be, but there was some nice walks to do. Kinda wish I had known that though as I was wearing jeans and would have worn other pants if had known was going more than just town walking.

First off we went for a walk around a nice park and found a cool bridge, then walked to the tourist information centre which is where I found out about the other cool walks. Then we walked to The Black Watch, it's a military museum which we didn't go into, we went for the Poppies Weeping Window exhibition which is a bunch of ceramic poppies coming down the wall of the Black Watch castle. Was pretty cool.

Then we went for a walk along the River Tay which was not just a river walk but also a sculpture trail, some of the sculptures where just weird but some were pretty cool. After that we went up Kinnoull Hill, which is def where I wished I had worn something other than jeans. Also kind of wished I had my hiking boots not just sneakers, but was def glad I had decided against wearing my Chucks. Kinnoull Hill was awesome, we really loved the walk and just chilling there for a few hours. It was kinda like mini Pentlands, cos just one hill but there were trees on it so kinda also like home :)

After Kinnoull Hill we went to a supermarket to get some lunch, picked up a salad cos was feeling healthy, a nice chicken and spelt salad. Do you know what spelt is?? I didn't till after I had eaten and started feeling all funny. Turns out spelt is hulled wheat :( still baffled as to why they can't just say that!!! Makes me think I should be that weirdo that sits and googles ingredients in the supermarket, not the idiot that eats something and googles it afterwards when she don't feel so great.

After my attempt at being healthy that kinda backfired we wandered to the Perth Museum and Art Gallery, not much to see there cept the special exhibit on gaming which had a history of gaming machines :) so cool seeing N64 and PlayStation and xBox in a museum, well cool and a lil strange.

After that we went for a wander down the shopping street, then saw a Morrisons which I've heard do a good range of gluten free (Morrisons is a supermarket), and wow they so do :) there were 5 whole bays of gluten free food for me to chose from, biscuits and cereal I had never even seen before :) totally made the trip worth it :) after spending way more than had been allocated for groceries this week (hehe) we wandered to the train station and headed home.

First photo in Perth, just outta the train station
